The Courage of Becoming
April is a month of unfolding — of pushing through, of becoming visible in new ways. For me, this month also marks a powerful step in my own journey: I traveled to New York and New Jersey to begin the One Million Black Women: Black in Business program with Goldman Sachs. It feels like a full-circle moment — standing on the foundation of Peaces ’n Puzsouls, built almost 20 years ago, while stepping into Dr. Sheila Sweeney Enterprises with clarity, courage, and fresh vision.
Becoming isn’t easy. It asks us to let go of what was, to risk being seen, to embrace new community and new learning. This new chapter excites me because it’s not just about business — it’s about building, rebuilding, shifting, and pivoting in ways that align with my calling.
Reflections for April:
What part of me is unfolding that I’ve been holding back?
Where do I need courage to step into new spaces?
How can I celebrate becoming, even if it’s messy or still in progress?
Becoming is never instant. It’s a journey — and April reminds me to walk it boldly, with gratitude for what’s been and openness to what’s next.
